angel investor / venture partner / LP / start-up 'doer'
2016 - 2022
Started my angel portfolio back in 2016 (50+ deals) Worked with a European multi-family office venture allocation and directs in 2018 Initiated first LP checks (super small) in 2019 Founded Series Q in 2016, a LGBTQ-focused tech founder network, with the aim to be the first check into diverse founders. Fortunate to have come across Gaingels founders as they got starters, and jumped on board to help build and scale Gaingels' now 200+ health & bio portfolio.
Co-Founder - Guardtime Health
2018 - 2020
Saw an opportunity to do something different in clinical trial tech (EDC for biopharma nerds) using blockchain. Built in Europe and mainly served mid to large biopharmas, CROs and CDMOs for initial pilots. Ended up pivoting to Real World Evidence generation. Learned to fail fast, pivot hard and create go-to-market strategies for biopharma.
Venture Fellow / Doer
2020 - 2020
Helped to deal hunt around MIT and Harvard for student-scientist founders in health & bio.
Consultant --> Global Healthcare COO
2010 - 2017
Beyond powerpoints and pivot tables, got an incredible opportunity to help run the firm's Global Healthcare practice as its business unit COO. Helped our teams advise Fortune 500 healthcare and biopharma boards & CEOs on portfolio management, M&A, BD, and strategy. Started the firm's health & biotech start-up practice, which gave a first taste of what it takes to be a founder (and venture investor). Prior to the global stint, started out for the first few years consulting with global international aid organizations like UNICEF, the World Bank, and Gates Foundation, and developing country governments in Africa and SE Asia.
Analyst
2008 - 2009
Thought banking in developing markets was interesting fresh out of school. Learned a lot about the post-Soviet economies of the Baltics & Eastern Europe with a great team from U.S. Treasury Dept.
