Overview 

Dan Nechita is currently in a leadership position as the EU Director at the Transatlantic Policy Network (TPN) and has previously served as Head of Cabinet MEP Dragoș Tudorache in the European Parliament. He has a Master's Degree from The George Washington University and a B.A. from Columbia University, showcasing a strong academic background in international relations and political science.

    (Co-) led the technical negotiations on the Artificial Intelligence Act (Regulation, co-rapporteurship). Covered shadowships on Europol (Regulation); the Data Act (Regulation), the Future of EU-US Relations (INI report); AI use by police and judicial authorities (INI report); EU-NATO cooperation (INI report); and LIBE opinions on the NIS II directive, the Data Governance Act, European Strategy for Data, Removing barriers to the functioning of the single market, AI in civil and military uses, Ethical aspects of AI, robotics and related technologies Coordinated work in the AFET, SEDE, LIBE committees and the EU-US Delegation; coordinated work on the Chairmanship of the Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence (AIDA)

    Coordinated 23 full-time employees; coordinated the Government digital delivery platform GovITHub and oversaw the development of 16 digital projects worth over 1.1mil. EUR; represented Romania in EC working groups on digitizing industry and innovation hubs; organized the “Digital Romania – Industry 4.0” Forum

  • Counselor to Prime-minister Dacian Ciolos

    2016 - 2016

    Coordinated inter-ministerial working groups on IT and cybersecurity; coordinated the establishment of the first Romanian Government CIO Office; established and coordinated the GovITHub platform (1.566 participants; 24.409 work-hours; represented the Prime-minister’s Chancellery as keynote speaker in over 20 public events
