Work Experience
Managing Director, VC
2023 - Current
MALIAM is a new VC focused multi-generational family office investing in the future of human flourishing.
Director of Investments
2020 - 2023
Led fund investing for the Kapor family office (Kapor Center Investments) and managed a portfolio that spanned ~40 years across 100+ venture capital and private equity funds. Previously led this separately structured/financed work under the Kapor Capital brand before spinning out to create the newer family office brand. In my 3.5 years at Kapor, invested as an LP in ~40 US-centric and differentiated software dominant VC funds with strong performance potential that shared our values. Funds in the Kapor portfolio tend to skew early stage (Pre-Seed to Series A) and have racial diversity/accessibility built into the fabric of their funds as a strong drivers of alpha.
Head of Venture Development
2018 - 2020
Led global growth and expansion for a crypto-based org that provides investment in and technical assistance to typically Series A/B companies operating in 60+ countries across edtech, fintech, healthcare, sustainability, etc. Built investor relationships across three continents and ran due diligence to support mission-driven ventures in order to diagnose roadblocks and build team capacity to solve their most pressing operational challenges (ex: tech, data analytics, human capital, product, sales/marketing).
Associate Partner
2015 - 2018
Co-founded and together ran NewSchools Ignite, a accelerator that identified edtech market gaps and invested in 75+ edtech companies spanning pre-seed through Series C to spur product innovation and influencing edtech supply to meet demand in critical areas within K-12 education. Led investor relations, ecosystem building, and advised ventures to achieve their growth, product, fundraising, and impact goals.
Founding Team Member, Program Manager & Interim Vice President
2011 - 2014
Conducted due diligence, invested in, and managed over 100 strategic investments in a $100M+ K-12 education portfolio for a venture philanthropy fund with >$2B AUM.
Corporate Social Responsibility; Human Resources; Legal
2005 - 2009
Amongst several initiatives, led research, competitive benchmarking, and recommendations for new international human rights policies and procedures within a Fortune 200 company who doubled their global reach to operate on four continents.
