Kakao Investment is the strategic investment arm of Kakao Corporation, the Korea-based tech conglomerate with market cap of USD 24B+ • Conducted comprehensive analysis on 100+ startups and invested in 4 ICO projects and 6 startups across Korea, Indonesia, and United States (total investment amount: USD 18 million) • Led the new business expansion of a portfolio company (hair salon reservation platform) to nail care sector and drove the initiative by negotiating with product OEMs and setting up a data-driven product planning process with engineers • Performed a major role in expanding corporate portfolio to Indonesia by networking with key local VCs and sourcing deals; led 4 local investments (a video production studio, a coworking space operator, the 1st local capsule hotel chain backed by Sequoia, and local coffee chain recently becoming unicorn) and secured 10+ pipelines • Supported the follow-on funding round of a portfolio company (social game developer) by preparing IR deck from scratch and tapping potential investors; the company successfully closed the follow-on round of USD 13 million
