James began his career as a trader with a New York hedge fund and registered investment advisor. During his tenure as a junior trader and then Head of Equity Trading he saw the firm's assets grow from $30 million in AUM to nearly $1 billion across various strategies. During that period of rapid growth, James implemented programs to manage the trading processes and compliance infrastructure while contributing to the firm's trading and hedging strategies. He worked closely with several portfolio companies and gained board experience. While he was Head of Strategic Initiatives and General Counsel he worked on cross-border litigation efforts, predominantly in the PRC. In this role he focused his efforts on short term and long term strategy ranging from portfolio management issues to researching and developing new product offerings with a focus on venture capital investments.
