    Grew business unit by 50% to 140 employees and $400M annual revenue. Administered a $50M R&D budget while directing strategy, market, and technology execution for innovative healthcare solutions in digital health, internet of things (IoT), wearables, vital signs monitoring, medical imaging, instrumentation, and biosensors. • Focused team on meeting emerging opportunities in the digital health care market, primarily outside of the hospital; grew annual revenue at 14% from a previously flat growth trajectory, while capturing high profit margins. • Developed platform business models, directed development of new digital health use cases, and launched company’s first foray into FDA-qualified medical devices targeting chronic disease management in the home. • Transitioned team from component development to higher value system and sub-system product development, rolling out offerings with significantly higher selling prices at equivalent profit margins. • Incorporated new skill sets and disciplines in healthcare business operations, including hiring biomedical engineering, software development, and mechanical engineering staff; built a systems team that developed strong partnerships with doctors, insurance companies, hospitals and startups. • Assumed direction of a struggling sensor initiative, providing disciplined leadership to focus and redirect the strategy.     Led turn-around of struggling fiber optic component business. Anticipated radical changes in economics, standards, customers and technology that characterized the segment since the telecom bubble. Redirected the strategy to emerging growth areas such as fiber to the home, and storage area networks. Managed seven marketing and engineering professionals. • Grew sales at 40% per year in a volatile market; consistently positioned group to land number one or number two in its chosen markets. • Led team to increase system knowledge and develop sophisticated modeling techniques to improve customer support of the design-in cycle and improve productivity of application resources.

    Developed business, selected customers, and defined products for ADI's entry to the market for telecommunications switching using Optical MEMS devices. Defined product, process and technology needs, identified target customers, negotiated development and production contracts. Managed communications programs, PR and Marcom. Led customer development activities and negotiations with ADI's optical MEMS customers. • Negotiated multi-million-dollar development and production deals with key players, such as Nortel, Onix and Tellium. • Generated $12M in commitments for NRE and production.

    Identified and developed emerging markets for micro-machined sensors in start-up business. Created product and market strategy, defined new products. Implemented business plans to develop a fast-growing, profitable segment to complement the division’s automotive business. Directed promotional activities including: direct mail, advertising, website development, sales tools, and training. • Created demand for micromachined products by evangelizing new uses for the technology in car navigation, alarms, gaming, PDA’s and body computers. • Developed revolutionary dual axis accelerometer, product that won prestigious “Innovation of the Year” award from Electronic Design News in 1998. • Created new paradigm for video gaming market by developing and promoting revolutionary new motion-based game controllers. Won designs at Microsoft, Logitech, Nintendo and Sony.
