According to Newsweek's ranking of the World's Best Specialized Hospitals in 2024, Clínic Barcelona ranks #8 in Obstetrics & Gynecology, #19 in Urology, #34 in Cardiac Surgery, and #35 in Cardiology worldwide. Jorge coordinates the innovation agenda at all the institutions that compose Campus Clínic: Hospital Clínic Barcelona (a top public tertiary hospital), IDIBAPS (the research foundation), ISGlobal (the global health research foundation) and Mon Clínic (the private not-for-profit foundation).

Collaborative AI-powered software platform that accelerates digital diagnosis in pathology through AI/ML, Computer Vision and Federated Learning. Proprietary technology with its own developed models, based on the feedback and expertise of top pathologists from leading hospitals RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Building the team: Leading a team of 3 people and 12 AI engineers and data scientists. 2. Building the product: Defining and executing the strategy for the product (technology roadmap) and the company (marketing, sales, regulatory, medical partnerships, finance). 3. Building the company: Building the key operational processes, fundraising for the company and securing first early customers (hospitals).

    Director of Innovation (portfolio of over 140 large-scale projects) and member of the Management Board of EIT Health. EIT Health (https://eithealth.eu/), an independent agency of the EU mandated to accelerate innovation and entrepreneurship in Healthcare and Life Sciences in order to drive economic and social prosperity and relevant health outcomes for citizens in Europe. EIT Health is one of the largest healthcare initiatives worldwide, fostering economic growth and social progress. EIT Health is a public-private partnership, including the top 150 companies/institutions in Healthcare and Life Sciences in Europe, spanning key areas of healthcare such as Pharma, Biotech, MedTech, Digital Health, Payers, Health and Care Providers, Research Institutions and Universities, as well as more than 700 biotech/medtech/digital health startups.

  • Director E-Health and Health 2.0

    2010 - 2017

    Hospital Sant Joan de Déu (HSJD) is the largest children’s hospital in Spain and among the top5 in Europe. In 2010 the hospital started the project H2O – Liquid Hospital, an initiative which seeks to radically transform healthcare through an intensive use of technologies oriented towards the patient. HSJD aims to be a Liquid Hospital, going beyond the physical building blocks of the hospital. HSJD is the most relevant example in Europe where a hospital is using online care, telemedicine, mobile apps, social media, and health 2.0 tools to put the patient in the centre of care.

    2013 - 2017

    MOEBIO is a disruptive talent development initiative of Biocat where life sciences, health, business and technology meet in a new level to accelerate entrepreneurship in healthcare. Design Health Barcelona is the flagship program of MOEBIO. d·HEALTH Barcelona is a Higher Education Program inspired in the prestigious Stanford University's Biodesign Fellowship, aiming to develop the future leaders in medtech innovation. Since 2001, the Stanford Biodesign program has graduated over 120 Fellows and 700 students who have started 26 companies, raising over $200 million and creating over 500 new jobs. More importantly, far more than 150.000 patients have been treated by technologies invented by our trainees.
