    Seed stage venture group focused on Black-founded/led startups and other under-represented entrepreneurs such as women, people of color, and LGBTQ+. www.btn.vc

  • Founder Black Tech Nation

    2017

    • Founder of a social good organization created to bring more people across the Black diaspora into tech. (a.k.a. "Black Unicorns") • Work heavily alongside tech companies, local governments, and institutions including Carnegie Mellon University, The City of Pittsburgh, Google, and MIT.

  • Beta Builders Coding Bootcamp Co-Director and Instructor

    2016 - 2018

    • Co-creator, director, and instructor for boot camp geared towards minority and female Pittsburgh Public High School students interested in STEM careers, specifically computer science. • Developed curriculum including front end and back end languages, basic coding fundamentals, individualized coding assignments, and final project. • Managed classroom of 10-15 teens for 4+ hours - arrange travel, food, supply orders, and computer assignments for each students.

  • Front End Software Developer (Contract)

    2016 - 2016

    • Used Angular, JSP, JSON, and Sass to develop custom-made widgets, plugins, and features for digital publishing software (similar to WordPress). • Worked on a team of 5 in an Agile environment with international publishing clients to meet individual needs. • Provided easy website management for online editors and website developers.

  • Full Stack Web Developer

    2016 - 2016

    • Student and developer at an intensive full stack web development boot camp – 40+ hours per week for 12 weeks (20+ hours extra evening/weekend coding). • Developed numerous back end and front end projects in various languages, frameworks, database designs, and web APIs via pair programming, group programming, and solo programming. • Learned 15+ languages and frameworks at an extremely rapid pace while creatively problem solving. • Managed multiple projects simultaneously including a mapping app and a gaming app for two Pittsburgh clients.

  • Program Manager and Instructor

    2015 - 2015

    • Develop educational & developmental components for the program, such as the curriculum, lessons and points of focus, program regulations, procedures, etc. • Manage team of students, interns, and staff to create an organized, well- run learning environment. • Report detailed test data and observational reports to program directors and executive board on the educational, social, and behavioral progress of each student. • Successfully integrate technological learning components and programs to enhance the individual learning experience and tailor the lesson plans for each individual student.

  • Full Time Math & Science Academy Substitute Teacher

    2013 - 2015

    • Manage classes of 20+ students in all grade levels- freshman to seniors; class levels range from special education and physical education through honors and advanced placement courses. • Distribute, teach, and review the current lesson plan with the students; address any questions, conflicts or concerns. • Enforce classroom and school rules and guidelines; ensure the safety of each student; complete attendance and disciplinary paperwork for school records office.
