Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See
2017 - 2017
I completed an internship in the Advisor role at the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations led by H.E. Archbishop Auza. My responsibilities included regularly covering high-level side events held at UN headquarters which featured speakers such as Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden. At the United Nations, I was also able to witness historic occurrences such as emergency Security Council meetings on North Korea and the rare emergency General Assembly meeting adopting the resolution on the “Status of Jerusalem”. I also covered meetings in the General Assembly during the High-Level week and provided briefings on speeches made by various heads of state. Additionally, I served as a delegate of the Holy See Mission to the 5th committee, which covers the administrative and budgetary matters of the United Nations. My final task of the internship was to compile a final report, covering the details of the proposed $5.4 billion budget for 2018-2019 of the UN as well as the reforms proposed by Secretary-General António Guterres. In total, I've written over 30+ reports sent to the Holy See’s central offices in the Vatican.
