Architect and design Platform services for the Cisco Cloud Services Group based on 7 years of experience designing and running cisco internal cloud. This includes taking a holistic approach to a platform that enables working as a unit to provide XaaS (IaaS, PaaS and SaaS cloud) capabilities as well as integrating communication to/from the much larger edge device space (IoT).

Create a long-term architecture roadmap for Cisco IT's Platform As A Service Offerings (PaaS) to be deployed to the internal Cloud (IaaS), and eventually extend it to external clouds. Ensure that common XaaS constructs are used in our IaaS, PaaS, DCaaS solution. Enhance current IaaS Roadmap to include burgeoning standards like OpenStack, Openshift, TOSCA and IEEE intercloud. Ensure that our PaaS Offerings are aligned with the longer term goals of Offering catalog, ordering, orchestration, configuration management, SLA management, Service Lifecycle management and overall automation goals. Create high-availability architectures for MVDC (metro-virtual data center active active), full-scale reproducible DR architectures and regional virtual datacenter architectures for middleware / PaaS platforms.
Domain Architect - Integration Systems, Enterprise Architecture

Create long term architecture roadmap for the integration technologies to be used inside IT. Road-mapping includes leading discussions with vendors, open source projects and the various Application design teams inside IT to ensure that we have a viable and structured approach to inter-process communication inside IT. Work closely with Information Security architects to ensure that the integration architectures that we come up with for IT have security, AAA, encryption all built into it from the beginning. Security is crucial for the Integration domain to be successful in coming up with an Enterprise scale strategy because of the nature of the Integration in a mid-to-large Enterprises Business strategy (acquisitions, disparate systems, multiple sources of truth etc).

Work in conjunction with other technology domain architects to define business needs for a web services management environment, application integration needs and Cisco's overall SOA application framework strategy. The responsibilities include vendor selection, product evaluation, product re- architecture based on needs; environment architecture and environment build out. This role has included on going collaboration with the Business Units for further enhancement and improvement of web-service products along with architecting a web-services /SOA environment that evolves with the web services roadmap and the maturity of the product. Included executive briefings to Senior technical members and industry (SOA Consortium) around appoach to SOA.

Unfortunately, this was before Google invented the term SRE and the industry later latched on to it, and now it's a whole job title/responsibility with guidance on what it should be. However, in essence, that's what we did. The start of my bootcamp on big-company/little company differentiation training, as well as a start on realization of what really matters in life. Thank you @Cisco for the bootcamp! Responsible for corporate Internet web site, http://www.cisco.com/ (Cisco Connection Online), the corporate intranet web sites (Cisco Employee Connection) and extranet web sites. Involved in the day-to-day upkeep of machines, evolution of architecture, and support of the production environment. Experience with development, staging, and production web environments for use by a large number of developers working on diverse and independent projects. Dealt with topics including code and content repositories, QA/deployment systems, code reviews, load testing, security, entitlement/authentication, payment servers, firewall drilling, remote distribution, disaster recovery, layer 2 through 5 switching, software bus/messaging architectures, scaleable j2ee environments etc. Consulted and supported web application development groups and content providers. Work as an architect for web systems related technology inside Core Infrastructure Group.

Ah, my experience during the dot-com days when all of us were trying to sell plant soil over the internet before amazon came around - forget logistics.. The internet was going to solve the world based on JAVA. Plan and build an evolving intranet system using Cold Fusion, ASP, JavaScripts and SQL server. Leverage emerging Microsoft technologies such as Office server extensions to optimize the intranet. Work on debugging, infrastructure and back-end solutions for the external web site which uses cold-fusion/MSSQL 7.0 setup in a load balancing environment using BigIP.

White hat hacking before the phrase existed! Analyze IMSI/Anteon's Customer networks and computer systems for access and authorization vulnerabilities. Create and test penetration plans based on the analysis and work with the customer to remediate vulnerabilities Analyze/Plan/Build Intelligent web sites for a wide customer base utilizing state of the art artificial intelligence technologies like Resolver and Web Advisor, knowledge bases and decision trees.

Evaluate customer needs concerning lan connectivity, internet connectivity and MIS deployment; come up with implementation strategies and finally implement them. Various different projects have include the following technologies: IMAP setup, ISP security guide, e-mail security, web server security, secure web transaction server using CyberCash and SSL, NT remote access setup, Radius Authentication server setup, Bandwidh policy setup including router management, ip address classification, SQL server implementation, sendmail trouble-shooting etc.

I knew what I was good at, solving problems. I did not know that we were at the forefront of a fourth wave of Human evolution change - the Internet, or generically, information aware society. Act as the webmaster for the intranet and the internet site. Develop and implement policies regarding security, publishing etc. Implement cutting edge web-based technology including load balancing, Cold Fusion and Active Server Pages. Evaluate new products for the benefit of customers. Worked with various platforms including SunOS, Solaris, WindowsNT. Implemented a company wide MS-Exchange workflow and messaging server single handedly using Exchange and built -in Collaboration Data Objects in VB.
