Turbopump Aerodynamic Flow Path Design • Performed aerodynamic design of inducers and impellers in cryogenic and hydrocarbon propellants • Conducted meanline trade studies, optimized 3D blade shapes, sized diffusers & volutes • Improved CFD cavitation models through calibrating multi-phase unsteady CFD in liquid hydrogen (LH2) and water to collected test data • Wrote test plan and data validation plan, performed Monte Carlo uncertainty analysis to optimize test rig instrumentation, and analyzed test data • Programmed jet pump meanline, off-design, and geometry generator software tools, and validated all tools using published NASA data • Used transient CFD with mesh motion and real fluids to analyze LH2 impeller balance piston damping and LH2 hydrostatic bearings performance Program Management • Principal Investigator and Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leader on a program for demonstrator hardware and a program for corresponding software for a turbopump health management system • Used DoD Risk Management strategy to guide program plans based on results of risk assessment and risk mitigation plan • Wrote statements of work and used Earned Value Management to track budget and schedule Technology Development • Awarded 5 patents with another 9 patents pending for innovative designs and processes • Wrote proposals to Air Force, DARPA and NASA to fund development of rocket engine innovations • 7 proposals awarded (78% win-rate): 4 Phase I SBIRs/STTRs, 2 Phase II SBIRs, 1 BAA • Authored 14 technical papers for Joint Army Navy NASA Air Force (JANNAF) Propulsion conferences • Session Chair for for sensor development and rocket engine health management at JANNAF Propulsion conference in December 2011
