Overview 

Luis Almanza is an experienced entrepreneur and innovation expert who currently supports and invests in startups and entrepreneurs at Tec de Monterrey, Orion Startups, and Startup Weekend. With a Doctor of Management degree from Case Western Reserve University and a background in leadership roles at Tec de Monterrey, he has made significant contributions to entrepreneurship development and education in Latin America. Almanza's career highlights include serving as Entrepreneurship coordinator at Tec de Monterrey's Innovation and Technological Park, as well as co-founding Orion Startups to support and invest in early-stage companies in Latin America.

    2013 - Current

    My role is to detonate and developing the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Chihuahua, in my current roles include: • Create a new incubation/acceleration model for Startups, based on Lean Startup and Customer Development. • Coordinate training events in the new methodologies of entrepreneurship and business development for entrepreneurs, mentors, universities, professors, investors and government. • Build a culture of risk investment in the local environment with regular meetings, immersion trips to Silicon valley and Boston. Besides attracting local and international investment. • Promote the ecosystem through the bootcamps in Silicon Valley for entrepreneurs. • Create a new startup accelerator under Techstars accelerator model. • Organize events and forums that promote entrepreneurship as International Entrepreneurship Congress, networking events, Hacker & Founders, Startup weekends, Lean Startup Machine and different workshops. • Creating Startups Lab in the Technology Park. • I am working on a research project to map out and find patterns in personal and interpersonal characteristics of the founders of startups in Latin America. • Provide classes in the School of Business and Engineering School. • Coordinate the Entrepreneurship Plan at the North Zone of Tec de Monterrey involving eight different cities in Mexico in coordination with Kinnevo company based in Silicon Valley.

Our goal is to take companies from the concept to a capital access position in a 5 months program. We want companies accelerated access to angel capital, venture capital or be acquired. Orion Startups is a program created by Tec de Monterrey and member of the Global Accelerator Network by Techstars.
