Worked in the lab of Dr. Ramon Diaz-Arrastia studying potential therapeutics and prognostic biomarkers for traumatic brain injury; Led 5 clinical research projects in traumatic brain injury biomarker discovery resulting in 2 first author publications and 5 oral presentations at both domestic and international conferences; Forged and oversaw interdisciplinary collaborations across 3 STEM labs from the departments of engineering, imaging, and cardiology resulting in 3 publications; Acted as the neuroimaging liaison between UPenn and the multi-center TRACK-TBI study to successfully implement novel, advanced imaging sequences at UPenn.

Worked at the Center for Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine (CNRM) with Drs. Carlo Pierpaoli and Ramon Diaz-Arrastia studying neuroimaging biomarkers for traumatic brain injury.
Graduate Research Assistant/PhD Candidate

Worked in the lab of Dr. Peter J. Bergold investigating the neuroregenerative mechanisms associated with a therapeutic drug combination in a rodent model of traumatic brain injury; Led 3 preclinical research projects in traumatic brain injury rodent models to assess the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying a potential therapeutic treatment for mild injury resulting in 2 first author publications; Selected as the winner of the Robert F. Furchgott Award for Excellence in Research in 2015 from my graduate cohort, given to the most outstanding PhD thesis from the graduating cohort; Managed daily lab operations; including ordering reagents and rodents, cleaning benches, maintaining internal data sets, and communicating with the facilities manager to fix utilities; Trained undergraduate students, medical students, PhD Candidates, and Postdoctoral fellows in various animal and wet bench-based techniques.

Founded and organized a rotating art gallery in the Graduate Student Lounge at SUNY Downstate that featured artwork created by the institution’s graduate students; Identified artistic students and approached them for submissions; Secured funding for materials to display the art and refreshments for opening show; Organized an opening show every 3 months.

Co-founded and led a service contract business printing large format posters for PhDposters.com; Established the first New York City location for a PhDposters branch; Identified potential leads and created targeted marketing materials including laboratory fridge magnets for students and e-mails to administrators to advertise the business to institutions throughout NYC; Served multiple universities throughout NYC including Columbia, NYU, Mount Sinai, CUNY, and SUNY; Worked daily on all aspects of the business from preparing tax forms to fixing mechanical issues on necessary equipment; Successfully sold and transferred business to a new owner.
