Advisor & EU Ambassador, Stanford Biodesign
2019
Founder, Director, Biodesign for Digital Health
2012 - 2019
At Stanford Biodesign, I lead the Center’s expanding activities in digital health, working with the leadership group and under the supervision of the Founder & Managing Director, Paul Yock, MD. - I founded and lead Biodesign for Mobile Health (since 2012). This experiential, multidisciplinary, project-oriented course has been named by Stanford's Bioengineering "one of the flagship courses of our Department" and has trained over 200 students and postdoctoral scholars in a needs-driven process of mobile health technology innovation. Each year over the ten weeks of the course, we welcome 50+ speakers from the digital health ecosystem in panels and breakout sessions, charting the Biodesign process of innovation. Student teams work on health needs sourced from Stanford community, supported by a large network of coaches and mentors. - I founded and co-lead Biodesign NEXT, an extension funding program designed to recognize the most promising projects by teams of students from select Biodesign courses through additional mentoring and funds to help advance the ideas towards improving health outcomes. - I contribute to expand the training we provide to undergraduate students at Stanford University in the field of health technology innovation, as a member of Biodesign's Undergraduate Committee. - I mentor Biodesign Innovation Fellows, Faculty Fellows, other Biodesign trainees and Stanford students from all corners of campus working on digital health projects. While at Biodesign, I am motivated to foster a culture of collaboration and help advance the broader Stanford School of Medicine's work by faculty and students around digital health, to facilitate the translation of research ideas into medical practice, health care industry-specific needs and meaningful health outcomes.
