2022 - Current
In November, 2022 my son was hit by a car while riding his bike and suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. In that moment his life was forever changed as was mine. I now devote my time, skills and resources to his recovery and to sharing what I learn with other TBI families. As he continues to recover I hope advocate for TBI research, treatment and for TBI families, helping them find strength and get the support and support they so need. https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/a.blachford

Nextdoor is the free and private social network for neighborhoods. Our mission is to use the power of technology to build stronger and safer communities everywhere. The inspiration behind Nextdoor is to give everyone a trusted way to connect to one of the most important communities in our lives: the neighborhood. We believe that when neighbors start talking, good things happen. At of July 2015, Nextdoor is being used by over forty percent of neighborhoods across the United States and more than one thousand public agencies. We’re growing every day to make each community a stronger, safer place to call home.

VP, Site Development
1996 - 2003
Was one of Amazon/com’s earliest employees hired to “make the site interactive”. Went from working with one HTML developer and hiring the first QA person to running what became a department of over 200 front-end engineers, web developers, designers, editors and researchers responsible for the features and functionality of the website, and the overall online customer experience. During this wonderful rocket-ship ride, the team I managed launched the music, video and toys stores and many more. We turned “launching” into a much easier, templatized process that could be done in a decentralized way throughout the company. Areas I managed included the home page, search, the order pipeline and online customer self-service, the personalization and community teams, our super-intense holiday launches, and many other aspects of the site. I loved every minute, even working graveyard shifts in the warehouses over the holidays, noticing choices we made on the website impacted warehouse productivity and watching the orders fly off the shelves, and knowing we were making customers so happy.
