  • Chief Commercial Officer & Co-Founder

    2021 - 2022

    Bombinate was a digital marketplace for independent and sustainable men's fashion and furniture brands, which looked to disrupt both ‘fast fashion’ and ‘quantity over quality’ furniture markets. We generated $20M in sales, onboarded over 500 merchants on the marketplace, and raised $8M in funding. The business was closed down in July 2022 due to market conditions and the funding environment. Key highlights from my time at Bombinate: - Hired over 40 full-time employees including seasoned leaders. Implemented best-in-class People Operations processes, such as equity scheme, ATS, interview funnels, 360 reviews, remote hiring stack, off-boarding procedures, and legal work. - Successfully onboarded over 500 partner brands while improving win rates, reducing cycle times, and optimising operational processes. - Owned and managed a named account list, developing winning strategies and expanding business with upper-middle market companies. - Developed and executed outbound strategies to create and nurture opportunities, leading full sales cycle from lead to close. - Raised over $10M over successive rounds from 2 VCs (D4 & Mother Ventures) and 30 angels including Cleo Sham (Strive/Uber), Wing Chan (THG/Sourceful), David De Picciotto (Revolut/Pledge), Bernard Fornas (Richemont) and Brent Hoberman (Made/Firstminute Capital). - Provided the leadership team with frameworks to help with strategic discussions. Frequently running exercises with them to be more customer-centric, leaning on data at every turn but not compromising on vision and values. - Created a strong and opinionated brand identity for Bombinate to strategically position the marketplace at the intersection of sustainability, design, and craftsmanship.

  • Co-Chief Executive Officer, Head of Sales, Design lead, People lead & Co-Founder

    2019 - 2021

    Bombinate encountered rapid growth during this period, going from $150K in sales in 2018 to over $6M in 2021. One of the key catalysts for this growth was our scalable, design-led, and customer-friendly platform. Lead the Commercial, People, and Design teams while also leading the fundraising, investor relations, and legal efforts. Throughout that period, we expanded our team to 40 full-time employees in all functions who reported directly to both me and my co-founder. - Successfully moved the business away from an MVP strategy to a proposition smoke testing approach. Developing key understandings of customer demand before any substantial development work. - Encouraged the entire business to get involved in hypothesis testing to drive conversion rate optimisation to increase revenue per user by 30%. - Supported the development of my direct reports through regular coaching, ensuring transparency of the more senior roles and encouraging them to rise to different challenges. - Lead the Design team which grew to 5 FTEs. Owned the creation of all marketing and product assets across all channels. - Defined and implemented business and product strategy with my co-founder and the leadership team.

  • Co-Founder & Commercial Lead

    2017 - 2019

    Co-founded Bombinate, a B2C full-stack marketplace, to empower small, independent & sustainable merchants in the European menswear and furniture categories. The vision was to curate and aggregated a well-defined set of brands that met the criteria of craftsmanship, sustainability, and design. - Launched an MVP of a marketplace working closely with an external agency and creating wireframes based on user testing. - Onboarded a product information management system to import, edit and export key product information data via API and FTP files to be ingested by our database and product data stores. We had over 160,000 SKUs on our system. - Created wireframes and oversaw the deployment of a merchants-facing orders management system, inventory management system, and invoicing system. - Hired our first user experience designer to complete the designs of our V2 frontend platform based on customer feedback and financial performance data. - Took the reins of partner acquisition and grew from 30 brands in 2018 to 100 in 2019. - Closed $1.5M in funding from a group of angels in the luxury and sustainability space.
