Currently I lead our Fintech engineering organization which includes the Fintech Data Engineering, Tax Platform, and Business Intelligence teams. These teams are responsible for ensuring timely and accurate delivery of data used for public earnings statements, calculation and remittance of taxes for Airbnb bookings, and internal tools used for self serve analytics. In the past I've led teams that were responsible for our employee technology experience. These teams built innovative internal products spanning HRIS, collaboration tools, and internal content management. These teams built and integrated software solutions that thousands of Airbnb employees use every day.

Brit + Co is a media and commerce company focused on creativity. As of April 2017 the company has raised $43M and reaches a monthly audience of 125 Million across web, native, and social platforms. As a member of the executive team and one of the first 5 employees, I was responsible for hiring and managing our Engineering, Product, and Growth teams. Highlights: • Recruited, hired, mentored, and managed a diverse team of engineers, product managers, and product designers. • Led Growth and Analytics initiatives that contributed to over a 120x increase in site traffic in under 4 years (15 Million+ monthly uniques). • Led cross-functional teams developing Content Management, Commerce (Subscription, Affiliate, Marketplace, and E-Learning), and Native Apps (iOS + Android). • Introduced Agile (Scrum and Kanban) with a focus on predictability • Championed continuous deployment using CircleCI, Docker, Chef, OpsWorks. • Managed big data initiatives including in-house analytics and our data warehouse (Redshift). • Established a technical hiring process by introducing a screening rubric, applicant tracking system, and remote coding exercises.

Planitax developed Corporate Tax SaaS products for fortune 500 clients. Our product suite included solutions for R&D, Fin 48, FAS 109, Legal Entity Management, and Document Management for SOX compliance. Planitax was acquired by Thomson Reuters in 2009 and our products are now part of the ONESOURCE Tax and Accounting product suite. • Joined at the seed stage as the second technical hire. Planitax eventually raised $23M before exiting. • Managed the Engineering team, devops, and external consulting teams. Recruited, trained, and mentored Engineers, Product Managers, QA Engineers and Ops Engineers. (The product development team grew from 2 to 24 employees during my tenure.) • Planned hardware and software strategies to support 1,300% new customer growth - (customers included Johnson & Johnson, Accenture, at&t, Cisco, Sun, Nortel) • Designed and built a Service Oriented Architecture with a focus on flexibility, customization, and a long term plan for supporting a large development organization. • Extensive work with load and performance testing as well as JVM tuning and optimization.
