Building MemSQL - the no limits database. Next generation distributed transactional database that scales on commodity hardware.
Founder and CTO
2011 - 2017
Led product and engineering efforts to get the original product shipped, which included landing initial customers and providing support to ensure successful product adoption. I worked very closed with initial enterprise customers such as Comcast and Zynga to deliver on a world class product. Over the year I built out various functions at the organization: - Engineering including MemSQL Engine and Platform and Tools - Product Management - Support and Customer Success Hired and later promoted from within VP of Engineering, VP of Product, and Director of Post Sales. Worked closely with the sales team to engage technology executives at major enterprises such as Akamai, Comcast, Verizon, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Dell/EMC, and Cisco.
Software engineer
2010 - 2011
As a part of infrastructure engineering team I focused on site cost. The cost of Facebook infrastructure is a step function. As you run out of datacenter capacity FB needs to invest in more data centers around the world and each data center costs close to 1 Bln dollars. With a tight control on performance and cost of running various Facebook services you can control the cost of the overall infrastructure and get the most out of the hardware you already have. This is a massive data problem that includes understanding of cost, performance, and trade offs between them as well as real-time data monitoring to make sure continuous code deployments don't regress performance or balloon the cost.
Senior Software Development Engineer
2005 - 2010
- Patented XML over Sparse technology, which opened a road to dramatically improving XML data type performance and scalability. I'm consulting and influencing the project as it goes through execution. - Selected into the Server & Tools HiPo (high potential) program. Undergone a series of business and leadership trainings. - Delivered "Parallel Fulltext Index Merge" improvement - a scalable version of fulltext index defragmentation. The idea is to use all CPUs/Threads to merge SQL Server fulltext index. - Lead a 7 people virtual team that builds fulltext index partitioning feature feature for the next release of SQL Server - Significantly improved SqlClr scalability, which enabled Spatial Queries to leverage many cores. -Delivered a presentation on "Heroes Happen Here" Sql Server 2008 launch in Moscow and got the top score based on the audience feedback - Lead an effort of 20+ people to re-engineer the SQL Server Engine check-in tests; from inception to design and implementation. This worked improved engineering quality and productivity of the Engine team.
