    Researched biological mechanisms of learning and behavior, leading to 6 published articles. I used optogenetics and electrophysiology to understand how brain circuits are modulated by MDMA, methamphetamine, and the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin. • Served 1 year as Vice President of Interview Preparation for the Advanced Degree Candidate Consulting Club • Co-discovered how neural pathways may differentiate dopamine reward from serotonin reward (PNAS, 2021) • Co-authored 5 additional papers demonstrating addictive drug effects on brain circuitry, published in Cell, Nature, etc. • Presented postdoc research at selective conferences in U.S., Germany, Portugal, and Switzerland • Awarded individual NIH F32 National Research Service Award grant, $140K, top 14% of applicants

    Discovered direct interactions between dopamine (important for movement, reward and cognition) and GABA(A) receptors (which inhibit neurons to precisely control information flow in the brain). My article was featured in "This Week in the Journal of Neuroscience." I learned a variety of technical and problem-solving skills, including consistent approaches to hypothesis testing and cutting-edge biochemical and neuroscience techniques. Gained extensive experience in leadership, teaching, tutoring, and mentoring. Publications are listed below.

    Organized fundraisers, liaised between admin and students, and developed close relationships with school administration. Efficiently and productively managed time, people, and resources. By the end of my term, I had doubled our events budget through fundraisers and led transitions to a new curriculum.
