    At Mach49, I lead the company’s Corporate Venture Investing Practice. I work with global businesses to design, launch, and manage CVC Funds that leverage the experience, deal flow, global network, and success of a team of top-tier Silicon Valley VCs. I support Executive Investment Committees, bringing the discipline, portfolio mindset, metrics, and best practices needed to drive meaningful growth. I also teach clients best-in-class methods for partnering with and leveraging external startups to drive maximum value and innovation across the core business.

    What I invest in: IT, consumer, and digital energy sectors. I have represented Foundation Capital on the boards of Chegg, MobileIron, Coverity and SkyCure. My investments have generated approximately $18B in market capitalization Before I came to Foundation Capital, I worked at -- and helped take public -- two software start-ups, Kana Communications with Mark Gainey, and Pure Software with Reed Hastings. My two start-ups ended up being worth over $12 billion in aggregate. I began his career in Silicon Valley at the Stanford Research Institute, now known as SRI International. I am steeped in the world of venture capital: ●The co-executive producer of Something Ventured, a critically acclaimed documentary on the origins of the venture capital industry. ● Past president of the Western Association of Venture Capital. Training: MBA from the University of California at Berkeley; an MA in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia; and a BS from James Madison University. I have been a guest lecturer on entrepreneurship at Dartmouth's Amos Tuck School of Business, Harvard Business School, Wharton, Columbia, UC Berkeley, James Madison University, and the Stanford Graduate School of Business and Engineering.
