As a serial entrepreneur, venture capitalist and business executive, Peter Shaw has a lot of real-world advice to offer SDSU's business students faculty, and staff. As an Executive in Residence, Shaw now has the opportunity to do so as a staff member at SDSU's Fowler College of Business. AS FCB’s EIR, Mr. Shaw participates in programs that help link the college to the local business community by providing the necessary experience to guide the college's students and faculty to those resources that connect classroom lessons and real-world business practices. As an accomplished serial entrepreneur, venture capitalist and business executive, Mr. Shaw provides real-world advice to SDSU's business students. In 2015, Mr. Shaw led a student study abroad group to Israel where they focused on International Entrepreneurship in the “Start-up Nation.”. Shaw also servess as a Liaison and Mentor for SDSU's on campus Incubator, the Zahn Innovation Platform (ZIP).

Peter Shaw is the Fowler College of Business’ Executive in Residence (EIR) and the Founding Director of the newly created (2018) Fowler Scholar’s Program (FSP). Prior to his retirement as Director of the FSP, the first four FSP student cohort graduated in May 2022. Peter continues on as the Fowler College's Executive in Residence and a Director of the Dean's Advisory Board https://business.sdsu.edu/students/fowler-scholars He also serves as a professional mentor to students across campus and business advisor/mentor to students at the Zahn Innovation Platform (ZIP) incubator As Director of FSP, Mr. Shaw leads a competitively selected cohort of BS in Business candidates in a four year scholarship program with a mission of developing Ethical Business Leaders. Mr. Shaw leads the group in weekly discussions focusing on business leadership and ethics. Peter serves on three Campanile Board Committees: Finance, Government and Community Relations, and Athletics. The Campanile Foundation accepts and administers all gifts to the university. Such gifts provide support for scholarships, program needs, academic departments, colleges and much more. Foundation team members collaborate with the university’s development staff and provide vital support to ensure philanthropic goals can be reached. While The Campanile Foundation is a California non-profit corporation created to administer private gifts, responsibility for the governance of the Foundation, including investments, is vested in its Board of Directors. The board seeks investment returns through a professionally managed portfolio, and to achieve its investment objective, the Foundation retains an independent investment consultant to provide ongoing evaluation and performance review.

Peter Shaw is a Principal in Shaw Management Advisors, Int’l LLC, (SMAI) a San Diego based international advisory firm that provides services for Senior Management, Boards, Venture Capitalists and Entrepreneurs. SMAI specialize in advising its clients in strategic and operational aspects of their business. A number of assignments have included M&A, as well as Corporate restructuring. Mr. Shaw continues to be active as a business advisor and has recently successfully completed small business M&A assignments. He currently serves on both US based and International Company Boards of Directors SMAI also maintains an active office in Jerusalem Israel Mr. Shaw has been the founder or first professional CEO of six companies and has led five of them to successful exits. He has served, at the direction of venture capital investors/boards as interim and turnaround CEO for four other companies and has sat on over 15 private and public boards as an outside director. He has also served as a partner for a US based Institutional Venture Capital Fund and is currently active with multiple international funds. He selectively advises and invests in high quality early and intermediate stage entrepreneurial companies in a wide variety of industries-from Enterprise Software, to Consumer Products and Services to Agricultural Technology. Mr. Shaw is also a Director on San Diego State University's College of Business Advisory Board. He is a the previous Chairman and a past Director of SDSU's Lavin Entrepreneurial Center’s Board. He has been named to the position of Executive in Residence at SDSU. He is a past President of San Diego Venture Group, and continues as a Board Member. He is a former Director for San Diego's CONNECT organization Mr. Shaw holds a bachelor of engineering degree in electrical engineering from City College of New York and a master of business administration degree from the University of Connecticut.

Actively involved in Israeli Venture Capital from Incubator Stage through Institutional Venture Capital backed companies. Serves as an active Board Member, and in some cases, Chairman, of local companies across diverse verticals - from Embedded Technology and Enterprise Software to the emerging and exploding opportunities of Agricultural Technology (Agtech). Active with Trendlines Ltd (Incubator) where he sits on two of Trendlines company Boards and is a Venture Partner at Our Crowd (VC) and sits on portfolio Boards and serves as a mentor. Selectively invests in high quality, high potential Israeli entrepreneurial opportunities Developed an Israeli focused University curriculum for an International Entrepreneurship Class. Led a winter semester for SDSU with 15 participants.
