The San Francisco Employees’ Retirement System (SFERS) administers the City’s $25B+ pension plan, a cost-sharing multiple-employer defined benefit that is funded through employee and employer contributions and investment earnings. Role as a Retirement Board Member is to establish and follow policies governing the administration, management, and operation of the City’s retirement plans; manage the investment of the Retirement System’s assets; approve disability benefit determinations; and approve actuarial assumptions used to fund long-term benefit promises of the SFERS Pension Plan.
