Since launching in 2019, Hiro has established itself as the leading UK / European VC in Video Games, Esports, Streaming and Digital Sports, the fastest growing tech sectors worth some USD 500 billion. Hiro’s LP base now includes some of the largest Games, Media and Technology strategics in the world, listed companies worth $ hundreds of billions. Hiro Capital I had its Final Close in August 2021 in the range between its original €100m target and the hard cap of €150m. The Fund is fully deployed, has invested in 21 announced deals and is on track to deliver its target MOIC of 4x - 5x for its investors. - www.hiro.capital. Our specific focus is on backing EU/EEA/UK entrepreneurs in this space, at the post-seed Series A and Series B stage, where there is a significant capital gap in Europe. One of the leading international sports marketing companies that specialises in the international media rights and sponsoring rights business within European football. The company owned and managed rights to some 100 European football clubs including the likes of Juventus FC, FC Internazionale (Milan), Lazio Roma, SL Benfica, Rangers FC and many other clubs accross Europe and to 10 European football associations. Thomas sold 30% of the Company to Apax Partners in 1999 and subsequently 100% to the WPP Group plc in 2002. After the sale to WPP Thomas stayed for 7 years as CEO for Sports within WPP. Various joint ventures within the WPP Group have been created with leading Media and Advertising companies in London, Dubai and Singapore to leverage the synergies within the WPP Group for the sports licensing industry. The Company has expanded into other sports and has successfully marketed the worldwide media and sponsorsing rights to the Life Earth Concert in 2007.
