A registered 501c3 nonprofit. Far Out Presents is an event production company I started with three close friends of mine at UCLA. We started out with the idea to showcase student musicians with some kind of festival. A few weeks later we threw our first event "Far Out Fest" - UCLA's student music festival (www.faroutfest.com). We've now thrown eight events. Far Out Fest will be returning to Broxton Avenue for the fourth year in 2020, and run from 2:00pm to midnight. Total budget is $21,000, with financial aid from community stakeholders.

  • Director of Operations & Design

    2016 - 2016

LA Hacks is the largest hackathon in the southwest. We host over 1,000 hackers in UCLA's famed Pauley Pavilion for a 36 hour hackathon. This year was the fifth annual event and was bigger and better in every way. In the weeks leading up to the event, I was on the design team creating animations for marketing and branding. When the event came around I was in charge of putting up videos on all the screens in Pauley Pavilion. My animations were featured on the main jumbotron of the venue, looping throughout the entire event. Last year I was working operations: I was present in the building 95% of the time from Thursday morning for set up until Sunday night for the breakdown. I oversaw constant food deliveries, and distributions; technical problems like power and internet failures; and keynote presentations from famous speakers like Apolo Ohno, Casey Waserman, a number of tech company CEOs and CTOs, as well as Olympians from the LA 2024 initiative, one of our main sponsors. All the while we had to maintain a safe working environment within the facilities regulations and fire safety standards. I learned what it takes to pull off a huge event like LA Hacks, and lead teams of volunteers while keeping everyone happy.
