Focusing on how to make creative tools even more accessible to more people.
Lead advanced product development for spatial computing tools, defining product scope and definition, significantly growing the team across three offices, and coordinating across operational lines. This includes working with revenue, platforms, ML, cloud, and the core engine team to align on our roadmaps, productization paths, and key areas of integration. It also includes nurturing external-facing relationships, meeting with developers and major hardware and software manufacturers to learn about use cases, areas of overlap, and potential partnerships.
Alongside prototypes and advanced product development, I built a team of cross-disciplinary technologists working on multiple immersive projects, from virtual prototypes to augmented reality demos. I joined on as a co-founder to help build a company with a simple mission: allowing communities to invest in their local businesses. This is an area of finance deeply close to my heart as a small-town Midwesterner, and changing investment laws meant investments of this type would be legal for the first time since the 1930s. Like most startups, it was ahead of its time: legislation was delayed and the company was forced to pivot.
Like Flickr, was incredibly excited to work on a product I'd used since early beta. Focused on product functionality and long-term concept work for the future of Foursquare and Swarm. Key projects: onboarding redesigns, concept iPad apps, reinstating gamification, and introducing what is now a key part of Foursquare and Swarm: tracking your location without seeming creepy.
Recollect is a backup application that lets you save and search Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram photos, check-ins, and tweets. I joined up with two former colleagues, both engineers at Flickr, and designed & scoped the product. Though it was solvent, we never marketed it much, and in 2014 we decided to lay Recollect to rest for now...but let us know if you'd like to bring it back to life.
Everything from branding to copy to UX at Flickr. It was great to finally work on a product I'd been using for years: highlights include redesigning the homepage for the first time since 2007 (!) and completely revamping the Upload feature. You can still see the work we did—things like lasso and multi-image select—today; now it's typical web functionality, but back then it was cutting edge.
