It is a 'one stop shop' for engagement between academic and non-academic communities on issues relating to security, privacy, identity and trust. It is funded until under the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC) Digital Security and Resilience Theme

Founded at Cambridge University, Sotera completed the accelerator at Lloyds of London and is working with the Visual Geometry Group at Oxford University. Sotera raised its first round from investors including Tokio Marine Future Fund (an Insurtech CVC fund based in Silicon Valley), Accel, Ninety, and a small group of experienced angels.

The Smart London Board shaped the vision for London's smart cities agenda and investment in data infrastructure. It advised the Mayor on implementing new digital technologies aimed at the highest level of performance across London's infrastructure, utilities and public services. The board also advised on how technology should influence and feature in the wider set of mayoral strategies and policies.
