Overview

Work Experience

  • Partner

    2001 - Current

I primarily represent technology startup companies from incorporation through M&A/IPO. I complete more financings than anyone else at WSGR. I also represent venture funds on venture financings. I do buy-side and sell-side M&A deals, but typically team up with my M&A partners on larger deals. I have represented buyers and sellers on a number of unique cross-border M&A deals (sale of Savvian (US) to GCA (Japan); purchase of ngmoco (US) by DeNA (Japan); sale of Radish (US) to Kakao Entertainment (Korea)) and non-US issuers in IPOs (Chemoil Energy (Singapore); Agora (China/SV)). In additional to typical software and technology companies, I represent a number of companies in the crypto/blockchain space.

  • Associate

    1996 - 2001

I grew up at WSGR during the "dot-com" boom working on a high volume of IPOs and venture financings, with M&A deals and JVs mixed in. I represented the issuer or underwriters in the IPOs for Biopsys, Blaze Software, broadcast.com, Convergent Group, Corsair, Ditech, drugstore.com, First Virtual, Hambrecht & Quist Group, Newgen Results, Packeteer, PeoplePC, Ramp Networks, Terayon, and Xylan.

  • Foreign Attorney

    1994 - 1995

I spent over a year at the then largest law firm in Tokyo in order to live and work in the country that I was born in.

  • Law Clerk

    1993 - 1993

I spent a few months working at WSGR after my summer clerkship ended and before I went to Japan.

  • Summer Associate

    1993 - 1993

I had never set foot in Palo Alto before my callback interview, but I had an Apple II+ in elementary school and WSGR represented Apple in its IPO.
